Chilli Boys hand Eymael his first win

Luc Eymael recorded the first win of his Chippa United tenure after beating Orbit College 2-1 at the Buffalo City Stadium on Tuesday night.

Goals in each half from Xolani Sithole and Justice Figuareido saw the Chilli Boys chalk up their first success of the new season, although Siyabulela Mabele halved the deficit at the death.

Chippa were desperate to get their campaign up and running after picking up just one point from their opening five matches which had left them rooted to the foot of the table.

Eymael had been brought in to steady the ship following a run of three successive defeats and the team failing to keep a single clean sheet, although he suffered a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in his first game in charge on 31 August.

Orbit College were also in the danger zone after losing their last three outings, having recorded a historic 1-0 victory against Siwelele on 12 August in what was their second match in the top flight since gaining promotion.

Stanley Nwabali needed to tread carefully for the rest of the contest after he received a booking on 25 minutes, although the Nigerian goalkeeper was jumping for joy 11 minutes later when Sithole beat Sabelo Nkomo in the opposing goal to put the hosts ahead.

Both coaches made their first changes on the hour mark, with Goodman Mosele coming on for Khaya Mfecane while Gomolemo Khoto replaced Lethabo Modimoeng for Pogiso Makhoye's side.

Eymael introduced Banele Hlophe for Giovanni Philander in the 77th minute to push for a second goal and it paid dividends as Figuareido doubled the Chilli Boys' advantage five minutes later to seal all three points.

However, Nwabali would not register his first clean sheet of 2025-26 after Mabele pulled one back in the first minute of stoppage time.
