Chennai Super Kings crash to 63-9 v Rajasthan Royals

Left-arm paceman Nandre Burger inspired the Rajasthan Royals' assault with the new ball after they won the toss and opted to field in their Tata IPL 2026 opener against Chennai Super Kings, taking two wickets in two deliveries to leave the Super Kings on 41-4 after the Power Play at the Barsapara Cricket ground in Guwahati.
Starting his spell after Englishman Jofra Archer saw his opening over go for a modest six against the opening batting pair of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (6) and Sanju Samson (6), Burger maintained the pressure on the away side as he first bowled Samson off a straight delivery that crashed onto his off stump with the final ball of his first over, before having No 3 Ayush Mhatre (0) caught behind by 'keeper Dhruv Jurel with the first ball of his second.

In between those two wickets, Archer also maintained the good start with which he started when he bowled captain Ruturaj Gaikwad with the final ball of his second over, as the batter stepped away in an attempt to give himself room to cut to the offside.
Impact Player Sarfaraz Khan top scored with 17 as the men in yellow collapsed to 63-6 after nine overs.
