Stellenbosch finally arrested their winless run away from home in the Betway Premiership this season after they came from behind to beat Orbit College 2-1 at Olympia Park on Wednesday night.

Steve Barker's side appeared to be on course to lose for the eighth time in 13 matches when Mbulelo Wagaba gave the Mswenko Boyz the lead on the stroke of halftime and matters got worse as Thabo Moloisane received his marching orders for a second bookable offence on 80 minutes.

However, a dramatic twist in the closing stages saw Thato Khiba restore parity in the 89th minute before Athenkosi Mcaba secured the comeback win in the second minute of stoppage time.

The Maroons pulled two points clear of the danger zone in 14th place as they closed up right behind Pogiso Makhoye's side, who remained unmoved in 13th spot.

Orbit were looking to bounce back from a heavy 4-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs on 4 November after winning their previous two games, while Stellies hoped to end their poor record on the road which had seen them pick up just two points out of a possible 15.

The visitors created their best chance of the first half when Devin Titus forced Sekhoane Moerane into a superb save at his near post with a first-time shot on 12 minutes.

Muzomuhle Khanyi then went close with a header that shaved the top of the crossbar as the Cape Winelands outfit continued to apply the pressure.

But they conceded a goal at the worst possible time after Wagaba beat Sage Stephens with a curling effort in the third minute of added time at the end of the half.

The hosts had their tails up as the second half got underway and Monnapule Saleng stung the palms of Stephens with a free-kick before they were denied by the woodwork later on.

Stellenbosch's hopes of getting back into the contest looked grim when Moloisane was sent off 10 minutes from time, although they somehow soldiered on and Khiba equalised from a free-kick in the final minute and Mcaba struck at the death from a corner to clinch victory.
