Babina Noko take back third place from Stellies

Sekhukhune United and Magesi were the biggest winners on matchday 25, while Richards Bay boosted their chances of survival in the Betway Premiership.

Cape Town City's woes continued after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.

Thulani Gumede's 79th-minute goal settled the contest as the Natal Rich Boyz went four points clear of the promotion/relegation berth in 12th place, leaving the Citizens winless in their last 12 games and floundering in 14th spot.

Sekhukhune United moved back into CAF contention with a 2-0 victory over Polokwane City in a Limpopo derby at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Goals in each half from Ellis Rammala (36') and Daniel Cardoso (79') saw Babina Noko reclaim third position from Stellenbosch, while Rise And Shine are six points further back in sixth after a second successive defeat.

Marumo Gallants put some more distance between themselves and the danger zone after playing out to a 1-1 draw with Golden Arrows at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa (13th on 27 points) led at the break courtesy of Junior Deon's 44th-minute opener, but Nduduzo Sibiya equalised from the penalty spot on 52 minutes to deny them a third win in four games.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are just about hanging on to MTN 8 football after they shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw with Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The Glamour Boys extended their winless run to five matches and they remain one point ahead of the Chilli Boys (9th on 30 points) in eighth place, with Abafana Bes'thende following closely behind in 10th spot.

Then on Sunday, Magesi kept the momentum going with a historic 2-1 triumph over TS Galaxy at the at the Seshego Stadium.

The two teams went into the break at level pegging after Kamogelo Sebelebele (38') cancelled out John Mokone's 20th-minute opener, but Delano Abrahams (54') quickly restored Dikwena tsa Meetse's lead early in the second half as they set a new club record in the top flight with a fourth consecutive win.

Owen Da Gama's side climbed up to 11th position, level with Arrows on 29 points, while the Rockets are unmoved in fifth place, four points behind Sekhukhune.
