Magesi will continue their quest for Betway Premiership survival when they take on a resurgent Golden Arrows at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 3:30pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

Magesi are still in the danger zone in 14th place of the league standings with 20 points. With a mandate to survive top-flight football, the Limpopo side are currently under pressure but things are looking up as they’ve won two of their last three fixtures.

The wins came against SuperSport United and Richards Bay with 1-0 score lines respectively. They lost in between those fixtures to Kaizer Chiefs with the same score.

As for Golden Arrows, since the appointment of Manqoba Mngqithi the KZN side are improving, having held league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw. Their last league fixture saw them grab a crucial 1-0 away victory against Polokwane City.

With a number of games in hand, Mngqithi’s side has the opportunity to fight for a place in the top eight of the Betway Premiership as they currently occupy ninth position.

WHAT WAS SAID

Abafana Bes’Thende coach Manqoba Mngqithi says that they are staying grounded ahead of the upcoming game against Dikwena Tsa Meetse.

“There are no easy games at this stage of the season,” he said.

“One thing I learnt is that there’s gonna be a lot of surprises as well. At this stage of the season you are fighting for your life, these (last matches) are all six-pointers and you must just try to fight and make sure they favour you. If you falter, the log table changes now and again.

“The important thing is for us to keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and not get carried away because there’s still a lot of work to do playing-wise and organisationally.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kayden Rademeyer, Magesi – The left-back is finding himself appearing in more matches for the team and has put up decent performances on the flank. He will be hoping to cement himself a starting position as the team battles with injuries.

Knox Mutizwa, Golden Arrows – The Zimbabwean scored the winning goal in the team’s last match against Polokwane City and it will be crucial for him to continue the decent run of form going into this away clash against Magesi.
