Pyramids FC and AS Otoho secured important wins across four matches played in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

Egyptian club Pyramids racked up a second successive victory in the Champions League’s Group A – drawing them level with Morocco’s RS Berkane at the top of the standings – after they beat Power Dynamos 1-0 in Ndola, Zambia, thanks to a Mohamed Reda goal in the 51st minute.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Angola’s Petro de Luanda were denied a famous win over Esperance de Tunis, with the North Africans striking late through Aboubacar Diakite to salvage a 1-1 draw at Estadio 11 de Novembro.

The hosts were on course for a second successive win in Group D via a strike early in the second half from Tiago Reis, but they at least remained top of the standings.

The Confederation Cup saw two matches played in the afternoon.

In Polokwane, South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs snatched a 1-1 draw at home to Egyptian giants Zamalek, with a last-gasp equaliser from Dillon Solomons cancelling out Seifeddine Jaziri’s early strike for the White Knights (who were unable to join compatriots Al Masry on six points at the top of Group D).

In Brazzaville, Congo’s AS Otoho put Algerian visitors CR Belouizdad to the sword, racking up an impressive 4-1 win thanks to goals from Jacques Bowamba, Bandiougou Diallo, Gosim Duvan and Ravelli Dion. The Congolese side went to the top of Group C on goal difference.

The Champions League will wrap up Matchday 2 with two matches on Sunday (St Eloi Lupopo v Al Hilal, and Stade Malien v Simba SC), while the Confederation Cup will feature a trio of clashes tomorrow, with Nairobi United v AS Maniema, San Pedro v Djoliba AC, and Black Stars v Stellenbosch FC.
