Golden Arrows and Chippa United played to a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

The result means that both of the teams missed out on entrance into the top eight.

The opening stages of the match were dull as both teams tried to settle but seemed to be taking a bit of time to adjust.

Chippa United’s Brooklyn Poggenpoel would be the one to open the scoring in the 23rd minute, bringing the game to life with his strike.

Steve Komphela’s men were visibly frustrated and went into the break a goal behind with plenty of work to do in the second half.

They started well. with an effort from Knox Mutizwa going just wide of the goal.

With 18 minutes left of normal time, Abafana Bes’thende found the equaliser through Kagiso Malinga, who had come off the bench.

He finished after receiving a delicious ball from Mutizwa, levelling matters against the Chilli Boys.

The closing stages of the match were extremely close neither teams could find the winning goal as they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
