Already relegated Cape Town Spurs will go up against Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon at the Mpumalanga Stadium. Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT (SA,GMT+2).

Kick-off is at 3pm CAT (SA,GMT+2).

Golden Arrows are placed 10th in the league standings, but have been winless in their last five fixtures.

In their last three matches, Abafana Bes’thende lost 3-0 to Stellenbosch, played to a goalless draw against the champions Mamelodi Sundowns and drew 1-1 with Chippa United.

Spurs have had a whirlwind ending to their season with glimmers of hope in avoiding relegation, however it turned out that there was just too much damage done in the beginning of the season to recover.

In their last three matches in the league, the Urban Warriors lost 1-0 to Polokwane City, beat Royal AM with the same scoreline and played to a goalless draw against SuperSport United.

Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp seemed to have accepted his team’s fate by the time that he took the reins, always insisting that they should be realistic on their chances to avoid relegation from the DStv Premiership.

Leading up to the game against Golden Arrows, Middendorp told his players that they should enjoy the last games of the season and “have fun”.

He also spoke about how other coaches in the league talk “nonsense” and his mission is to improve his players’ performance.

“There are lot of people here in the coaching area, a number of so-called coaches that they just talk, they just talk nonsense, they talk something invaluable,” said Middendorp.

“It’s not what we used to do in the from the technical side, we just try to design, try to find technically to correct players, here and there change a little bit from the system side, the reference point, very crucial but it’s all about improvement.

Kagiso Malinga, Golden Arrows - Malinga was the game changer in Arrows’ last league match, scoring the equaliser and ensuring that the team walked away with a point. He came off the bench in that one, and hopefully his last performance will earn him a start.

Neil Boshoff, Cape Town Spurs - The Spurs goalkeeper kept a clean sheet against SuperSport United and Royal AM, he’ll be hoping that he can replicate that result against a resilient Golden Arrows side.
