Norwich halted Ipswich's promotion momentum as they hit back to draw 2-2 against their bitter rivals in a dramatic Championship derby on Saturday.

A victory at Portman Road would have lifted second-placed Ipswich above leaders Leicester, who play at Birmingham on Monday.

But Kieran McKenna's side were denied by gritty Norwich in the first East Anglian derby since February 2019.

Nathan Broadhead put Ipswich ahead in the 34th minute, but Jonathan Rowe scored either side of the interval to give Norwich the lead.

Wes Burns levelled on the hour mark to earn a point for Ipswich, who had won their previous four games and now trail Leicester on goal difference.

Third-placed Leeds failed to capitalise on Ipswich's stumble as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Coventry at Elland Road.

Crysencio Summerville fired Leeds in front in the 58th minute, but Bobby Thomas levelled eight minutes later to leave Leeds 10 points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

Southampton moved level on points with Leeds in fourth place following a 4-0 home win over 10-man Blackburn.

Samuel Edozie made it two goals in four days just before halftime to put the Saints in control.

Callum Brittain was sent off in the 55th minute for his second bookable offence before Stuart Armstrong doubled their advantage.

Saints had the luxury of Carlos Alcaraz missing a late penalty before Sekou Mara and Alcaraz sealed all three points in stoppage time and extended Southampton's unbeaten league run to 14 games.

Hull climbed up to fifth following a 3-0 victory at home to Cardiff, while Bristol City beat Sunderland 1-0.

Sheffield Wednesday boosted their survival hopes with a late 2-1 comeback victory against QPR.

The visitors looked set to climb out of the bottom three thanks to Bambo Diaby's first-half own goal.

However, Bailey Cadamarteri struck four minutes from time before Anthony Musaba hit the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Huddersfield's Delano Burgzorg scored a penalty in the seventh minute of stoppage-time to earn a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Millwall.

Watford surged into playoff contention with a 5-1 success at Preston and Plymouth beat lowly Rotherham 3-2.

Middlesbrough ended their three-match losing streak with a 2-1 win at Swansea.
