ZESCO drop points again but top MTN Super League
Only two points separate the top five teams in Zambia’s MTN Super League as the title race tightens up following another weekend of disappointing results for the leading clubs.
ZESCO United sit on top of the table with 32 points from 18 games but were held to a goalless draw at home by NAPSA Stars on Sunday.
They have now won only two of their last 10 league games (D7 L1) yet still remain in front of the chasing pack.
There are four teams on 30 points, including defending champions Red Arrows in fifth.
They were held to a 0-0 draw by mid-table Green Buffaloes this weekend too.
Nkana FC are in second place and also ended 0-0 against third-bottom Lumwana Radiants.
A win would have moved them up to the top of the table on goal-difference.

Third-placed Kabwe Warriors lost at home to fourth-placed Green Eagles on Saturday as Simon Mulenga and Amity Shamende were on target for the visitors.
Godfrey Binga had given Warriors the lead.
There was a first win of the season at the 18th attempt for bottom side Indeni FC on Sunday as they claimed a 3-2 victory at fellow strugglers Zanaco.
Logic Chingandu had Indeni in front after six minutes, but Isaac Shamujompa soon equalised and Wilson Chisala put the home side in front.
It looked the same old story for Indent, but second-half goals from Jonathan Munalula and Ben Chishala, scored within a minute of each other, turned the tables in their favour.
They now have six points and are 14 from safety.
Atletico Lusaka claimed a vital 3-2 win against fellow strugglers Forest Rangers that leaves the latter second bottom in the table.
Hope Katwishi scored a first-half brace for Rangers, but Benjamin Chisala netted for Atletico before Thomas Chisi and 16-year-old Abel Nyirongo scored in the final eight minutes to win the game for the home side.
In the final game on Sunday, Innocent Kashita scored a second half winner for Nkwazi as they beat hosts Mutondo Stars 1-0.
