Scottie Scheffler holds fond memories of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, and for good reason.

Scheffler, the World's No 1 golfer, made his debut on the PGA Tour at this event while at the tender age of 17.

Now 28, Scheffler is seeking his first win of the season when he returns to the tournament in McKinney, Texas.

The Dallas resident does have five top-10s this season. Scheffler also held the 36-hole lead at TPC Craig Ranch two years ago before settling for a T5 finish.

"I have really good memories of this tournament," Scheffler said on Wednesday. "This tournament has always treated me really well. I was fortunate to get a spot here when I was a senior in high school. It was my first PGA Tour event. I have a lot of great memories of this event.

"... It's good to be back."

BIT OF A BLUR

As for why he's "back," well, he missed last year's tournament as he awaited the birth of his son, Bennett. Those events were a bit of a blur, Scheffler said.

"I can't tell you if I watched the tournament last year or what. All I can say is it's good to be back this year," he said.

Scheffler isn't the only golfer in this tournament who has ties to Dallas. In fact, Jordan Spieth and Si Woo Kim will be playing in the same group as Scheffler on Thursday and Friday.

"Playing with Jordan here will be really fun," Scheffler said. "Jordan is obviously a huge part of the community here, and with the success he's had on the course and the effect he's had off the course here in the community, the community here obviously loves him."
