EPISODE 5 REVIEW: No do overs on live TV as challenge proves brutal

The wear and tear on the energy in the SuperSport MVP Talent Search camp is starting to show. That interaction between Angel Thekiso and Thembelihle Mnguni was interesting.
It is clear that homesickness came through but also this is a test of how the contestants would cope when travelling for months on end while covering tournaments across the globe.

Unfortunately the sports media and broadcasting world doesn’t know of holidays, birthdays or special occasions.
SuperSport’s Hope Mbhele and Tshego Koke lead the SuperSport MVP Talent Search Show, as host, that aims to find South Africa’s next generation of sports broadcasters.
MDAKA OFFER A HELPING HAND
Former Spar Proteas centre court player and SuperSport presenter and commentator, Simi Mdaka, led the contenders in this week’s challenge.
A sharp sports knowledge and the players’ ability to think quick on their feet was key in getting them into the top 10 and the main challenge this week. Again, being knowledgeable in only one sporting code didn’t help the contestants much. They surely need to brush up their sports knowledge and indulge and learn the plenty sporting codes that SuperSport offers on all the channels.
NOT EASY FOR SWARTBOOI
The contenders who made the top 10 were almost the predictable bunch we’ve seen over the last few weeks. There were just a few surprises like Atang Swartbooi who missed out this time. It is clear that he needs to watch a bit more of the NBA, BAL as well as the BNL to brush up on his basketball knowledge.
Being the only presenter to have not made it into the top 10 must be weighing heavy on Thembelihle but she cannot give up now.
This week Carol Tshabalala leads the judging panel. She is joined by sports journalist and SuperSport presenter, OG Molefe as well as Big Brother Mzansi season five winner, Sweet Guluva (Akhonamathemba Mbele-Zwane).
The top 10 headed to the Loftus Stadium to cover the United Rugby Championship between The Vodacom Blue Bulls and Leinster Rugby. The envy!!!
The MVPs have to learn that live television is tough! There are no do overs, and Christopher Tarr learnt this the hard way. You have to keep the ball rolling and if you make a mistake you have to make amends quickly without making the viewer lose focus or think that you as a presenter you don’t know what you’re doing.
The judging panel had some usefull tips, we hope the MVPs will use them going forward.
MR THOUSANDS
Anelisa Jaxa seems to be making great strides. He has his confidence on lock and seems to know why he is in the competition. He aims to make his mark and be remembered long after the SuperSport MVP Talent Search Show is done.
Taking the top place and yet another R10 000 cash is a sign that he is one to look out for. Well done to Delucia Daniels and Yvette Mhaluli for making the top three.
For the first time in four challenges Relebogile Mabawa does not make it into the top three. Will he be able to come back to the podium in next episode?
Catch the show every Sunday on SuperSport Variety 4 and Mzansi Magic at 9pm.
