Rain delay at the Wanderers

Afternoon showers interrupted the CSA One-Day Challenge encounter between the DP World Lions and the Knights at the DP World Wanderers on Saturday afternoon. The Knights were on 99-1 after 18 overs at the time of the break.
The toss went the Lions' way and Bjorn Fortuin, their captain, asked the visitors to bat first. The visitors did well to wrestle control from the home side and were on the brink of reaching triple figures when the heavens opened up.
This is the second stoppage in the innings. The stop break in play came after 9.5 overs. Jacques Snyman had wrestled control of the match from the Lions bowlers. The 30-year-old opener absorbed pressure in the early exchanges with Evan Jones and Codi Yusuf. The pair was brilliant in their use of conditions in the first few overs of the powerplay.
However, Snyman had turned the tide towards the end of the powerplay. He smashed 20 runs off a 21-run over from Jones, who saw his bowling figures go from out good to okay in the blink of an eye.
Snyman and Dominic Hendricks' second-wicket partnership was worth 48 runs when play was stopped earlier. When they returned, the playing conditions had been adjusted to 45 overs a side. Hendricks continued in his supportive role, adding eight more runs as their partnership swelled to 95 runs.
Snyman had continued his pillaging of the Lions' bowling attack. At the break, he was unbeaten on 79 off 61 balls. This is his 11th List A half-century and second of the season.
Evan Jones was the pick of the bowlers for the Lions with a single wicket for 24 runs in four overs. Codi Yusuf, Bjorn Fortuin and Nqaba Peter had yet to take a wicket.
