Figuareido included in Eswatini squad for Cape Verde game

Chippa United striker Justice Figuareido has been included in Eswatini’s travelling squad for their last World Cup qualifier in Cape Verde after being forced off injured in their last game against Angola on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old striker scored two quick goals to put the Swazis 2-0 up against Angola at the Somhlolo Stadium in their penultimate Group D game but then went off injured.
Angola went on to equalise and share the spoils, leaving Eswatini still without a win in their qualifying campaign as they sit bottom of the standings.
“We might not have won the game but there are many positives to build on going into our upcoming fixture. Scoring a brace was one of my proudest moments, especially in front of our home fans. Better days are ahead. This national team means a lot to us because it defines who we are,” said Figuareido.
He has recovered to be included in a slimmed-down squad that was stuck in Dubai in transit after their plane left Johannesburg and is only expected to arrive in Cape Verde on Sunday, some 24 hours before the match.
AmaZulu DStv Diski Challenge forward Alakhe Mdluli is among the players released. Three players each from Nsingizini Hotspurs and Royal Leopard were withdrawn following requests from the clubs to allow them time to prepare for African club competition matches next weekend.
Monday’s clash at Praia will see Cape Verde qualify for the World Cup for the first time if they win.
