Woods withdraws from Genesis, still dealing with mother's death
Tournament host Tiger Woods said on Monday he has decided to withdraw from this week's Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, where he was set to make his PGA Tour season debut, as he is still processing the recent death of his mother.
The opening round of the 13-16 February tournament, which benefits Woods's TGR Foundation, will be held nine days after the 15-times major champion's mother died.
"I planned to tee it up this week, but I'm just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it's what my Mom would have wanted, but I'm still processing her loss," Woods said in a post on X.
"Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing."
