South Africa drawn against Montenegro for Davis Cup World Group II playoff

National captain Pietie Norval expressed his delight on Tuesday after the Renault South Africa team were drawn against Montenegro for their Davis Cup World Group II playoff to be held on home soil between 6-8 February 2026.
While the SA side were ranked 60th - 25 places higher than Montenegro - in the international team competition, Norval said they would not be taking their opposition lightly.
He was glad, however, that they would be turning out on home soil for their third successive Davis Cup tie.

"I'm very excited about the draw. We seem to have been lucky once again with a home draw. That's extremely exciting," Norval said.
"It's great for the South African public to be able to see the guys playing at home again."
Having lost 4-1 to Morocco in their last tie in Pretoria earlier this month, the Renault SA team will be looking to put up a good showing in the playoff clash against Montenegro, in order to retain their place in World Group II.
"On paper, Montenegro don't seem like one of the stronger teams, but as we've seen in the past, the strength is tough to judge until the players actually show up," he said.
"So our preparation will be extremely important, as has been the case with the last two ties we've played (since Norval was appointed captain)."
