The Proteas won the toss and chose to bat first in their Tri Series encounter against hosts Pakistan at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday morning.

It is a straight shootout between the two sides to see who will qualify to face New Zealand in the final at the same venue on Friday.

The Tri Series is essentially a warm-up event for Champions Trophy which is set to be battled out around Pakistan later this month, so it is important to get in as much match practice as possible, and both teams will be eager to get into the final game.

New Zealand reached the final by picking up two thumping wins, by 78-runs over Pakistan on Saturday and by six wickets over the Proteas on Monday, and the winner of this game will take them on again.
