Furrows and Bajramovic triumph at Amex Tshwane super 8

Defending champion Shane Furrows and Canadian teenager Iman Bajramovic followed similar paths to victory, securing the men's and women's singles titles at the American Express Tshwane Super 8 tournament which came to a close at TuksTennis in Pretoria on Sunday.

In the men's division, No 4 seed Furrows beat 16-year-old No 2 seed Ethan Dodd 6-1 7-5 in the semifinals, progressing to the trophy contest.

He went on to fight back from a set down in the final, defeating top seed Heinrich Rootman 4-6 6-1 6-4.

Bajramovic triumphed against 17-year-old South African top seed Ciaran McConnell in the penultimate round of the women's competition, wrapping up a 6-3 6-4 win.

In the final, the 15-year-old Canadian found herself trailing after the first set against her older sister Hana Bajramovic, but she maintained her composure to earn a 5-7 7-6(5) 6-4 victory.
