Richards Bay play to goalless stalemate with Magesi
Richards Bay were held to a 0-0 draw against Magesi at the King Zwelithini Stadium in the Betway Premiership on Friday evening.
The match began with both teams evenly balanced in terms of ball possession, with Magesi’s Wonderboy Makhubu getting a chance on goal early on but it was scooped up by Richards Bay goalkeeper Salim Magoola.
Shortly afterwards on the other end, Magesi goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze made the save to deny Yanele Mbuthuma as both teams searched for the opener early on.
As the game progressed, it was Dikwena tsa Meetse who began to have the upper hand in terms of ball possession. After being awarded a free kick, Tshepo Mabua took a big chance on goal but it was saved once again by Chipezeze.
As soon as the 30 minute mark hit, the lights went off at the stadium due to load shedding and play had to be paused.
Natal Rich Boyz midfielder Lindokuhle Zikhali went to ground but no contact was made, as he was stretchered off the pitch when the lights came back on. The first half ended goalless.
The second stanza followed more or less the same trend with both teams trying to find the breakthrough but it was not to be as the 90th minute came and the scoreline remained goalless.
The two teams shared the spoils in what could’ve been a crucial match for both to grab three points given their position at the bottom of the Betway Premiership.
