DeChambeau and Schauffele grouped together at Oakmont

Tee times and groupings were announced on Tuesday for this week's 125th US Open at Oakmont Country Club outside Pittsburgh.

Groups of three will tee off at the first and 10th holes when action gets under way on Thursday morning at the season's third major.

Former Oakmont caddie-turned-dentist and amateur golfer Matt Vogt will hit the opening tee shot at No 1 at 6:45am ET.

Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau is grouped with two-time major winner Xander Schauffele and reigning US Amateur champion Jose Luis "Josele" Ballester, who recently joined DeChambeau on the LIV Golf circuit.

They will tee off at the first tee at 7:29am ET on Thursday and at 1:14pm on Friday.

World No 2 and 2025 Masters champ Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland will play with Ireland's Shane Lowry and England's Justin Rose.

Rose (2013) and McIlroy (2011) are former US Open champions and Lowry tied for second in 2016 – the last time the event was held at Oakmont.

They will tee off at No 10 at 7:40am on Thursday and at 1:25pm. on Friday.

Second-ranked Scottie Scheffler, winner of last month's PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, shares the tee box with two-time major winner and World No 4 Collin Morikawa and Norway's Viktor Hovland.

They will get things started at No 1 at 1:25pm on Thursday and 7:40 am on Friday.

Dustin Johnson, the winner of the 2016 US Open at Oakmont, is grouped with 2015 champion Jordan Spieth and 2021 champion Jon Rahm of Spain and LIV Golf.

They will begin at the 10th tee at 1:14pm on Thursday and 7:29am on Friday.
