Prenelan Subrayen claimed 3-16 to help the Joburg Super Kings to dismiss the Durban Super Giants for a trifling 86 before Rilee Rossouw (43 from 32 balls) led the visitors to a comprehensive six-wicket, bonus-point victory reaching their target with 7.4 overs to spare in their SA20 match at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead on Tuesday evening.

The home side, faced with spin from both ends in the Power Play, were quickly reduced to 25-4 and playing ‘catch up’ for the rest of the innings after captain Aiden Markram had chosen to bat first.

Kiwi opener Devon Conway (4) slog-swept the canny, excellent offspinner Subrayen to deep midwicket and fellow New Zealander, Kane Williamson (2) top-edged a sweep against the same bowler to short fine leg.

Subrayen claimed a third when Jos Buttler (12) top-edged another slog-sweep straight up in the air to ‘keeper Donovan Ferreira who then took the pads off to bowl his offspinners – and promptly had Heinrich Klaasen (3) caught with a tame clip to midwicket.

The Super Giants demise continued at pace when Markram (22) attempted to drive off the back foot over extra cover and holed out to Faf du Plessis while Evan Jones (15) splaffed a drive against Richard Gleeson straight to mid off leaving the English seamer with the extraordinary figures of 2.1-0-2-3 once he’d added a couple of tailenders to his collection.

The rest of the batsmen had little (or no) idea how to score in difficult circumstances and their attempts to compile a vaguely competitive score came to nothing.

Despite the paucity of the target JSK suffered several stumbles on their way to victory with captain Faf du Plessis (3), Matthew de Villiers (7) and Wiaan Mulder (1) all miscuing catches playing ambitious strokes but Rossouw’s experience came to the fore with five fours and a six before he was bowled by Afghan wrist-spinner Noor Ahmed with just 12 runs required.

Proteas test star, Simon Harmer (4-0-14-1) was outstanding and may have changed the result with another 30 runs to defend.

JSK move into second place on nine points, one behind leaders Sunrisers Eastern Cape with ten points from two bonus-point wins. DSG are third with six points from three games.
