Finland came from behind to beat Russia 2-1 on Sunday and win the country’s first gold medal in ice hockey, in the final event at the Beijing Games.
Russia, who were the defending champions, scored first on a power-play goal by Mikhail Grigorenko in the opening period, but the better-choreographed Finnish attack controlled the puck throughout the game and won it with goals by Ville Pokka and Hannes Bjorninen.
