Mamelodi Sundowns continued their dominance over Chippa United with a commanding 3-0 victory at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, securing their eighth consecutive league title and an unmatched 15th PSL crown.

Sundowns extended their unbeaten streak against Chippa United, boasting 17 wins and seven draws in their 24 league meetings since the 2012-13 season.

The visitors displayed their relentless efficiency, ensuring their sixth league double over Chippa and third in succession, winning their seventh straight encounter against the Eastern Cape side.

The champions wasted no time asserting their superiority, with Iqraam Rayners netting in the 11th minute, assisted by Lucas Ribeiro.

The striker brought his league tally to 14 goals, tying with Ribeiro as the joint top scorer of the season.

Rayners's impact has been undeniable, as he has now contributed to goals in his last six PSL matches with five goals and two assists.

This fixture remains fruitful for him, as he joined Teboho Mokoena and Peter Shalulile in the top scorers’ club against Chippa, each boasting three goals.

After controlling proceedings, Sundowns doubled their advantage in the 69th minute, with Arthur Sales converting from a Thapelo Morena assist.

Sales didn’t stop there, bagging a brace in the 89th minute, ensuring Sundowns’ seventh consecutive victory over Chippa and their 100th goal across all competitions this season.

Sales's form has been nothing short of stellar, having contributed to goals in his last five PSL matches with four goals and three assists.

Sundowns' defensive structure once again proved impenetrable, keeping a clean sheet for the fifth straight match, extending their streak to 580 minutes without conceding a goal.

This loss continues Chippa United’s struggles in the league, as they failed to score for the sixth consecutive match, stretching their goalless run to 655 minutes.

Their worrying trend against Sundowns persists — they’ve only scored in seven of their 24 encounters and have yet to record a win.

RECORD-BREAKING DYNASTY

Sundowns' 15th PSL Era league title cements their status as the country's most decorated club, with titles spanning from 1997-98 to 2024-25.

Their unmatched dominance saw them claim 10 of the last 12 championships, with only the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons eluding them.

With this commanding performance, Sundowns not only strengthened their grip over Chippa but further solidified their place in South African football history.
