Rangers came from 3-1 down to snatch a dramatic 4-3 win at Dundee thanks to Cyriel Dessers' stoppage time goal on Saturday, as Celtic beat Hearts 3-0 to maintain a 13-point Scottish Premiership lead.

Two weeks on from a thrilling late 3-2 victory away to Celtic, the inconsistency that has dogged Rangers season looked set to strike again as they twice trailed by two goals at Dens Park.

Simon Murray and Joe Shaughnessy put Dundee 2-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Shaughnessy's own goal brought the visitors back into the game late in the first half before Scott Tiffoney blasted home to make it 3-1.

Rangers rallied thanks to two fine strikes from outside the box from captain James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence.

Dessers had missed a series of chances throughout the game but finally got on the scoresheet with his 10th attempt on goal after Aaron Donnelly failed to deal with Tavernier's long ball.

Another memorable win may prove fruitless in Rangers' pursuit of Celtic at the top of the table, but does Barry Ferguson's case to make his interim spell in charge a permanent one no harm.

Earlier Celtic got back to winning ways as Daizen Maeda took his tally for the season to 30 goals with a double against Hearts.

Captain Callum McGregor's presence was badly missed by coach Brendan Rodgers in a rare home derby defeat a fortnight ago and he marked his return with an assist for Maeda to coolly slot home the opening goal.

Maeda also played a major role in the second as his clever header came back off the post and Jota pounced on the rebound for his fourth goal since returning to Glasgow in January.

A fluent team move made it 3-0 before the break as Nicolas Kuhn squared for Maeda to tap in his 10th goal in his last eight league starts.

The Japan international has thrived in a more central role since the departure to compatriot Kyogo Furuhashi in the January window and is already enjoying his best ever goalscoring season.

"I think what everyone is seeing now is his actual finishing quality," said Rodgers.

"There is also a variety in his finishing. He's got a real good repertoire."

Defeat is a blow to Hearts' European ambitions as they remain just inside the top six with two games to go before the league splits in two for the final five matches of the season.

Hibernian remain in third thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-table St. Johnstone.

Aberdeen stay just a point further back and secured their place in the top six thanks to a 4-1 victory over Motherwell.

St. Mirren also did their chances of a top-half finish no harm with a 5-1 thrashing of Kilmarnock to move to within one point of Hearts.
