St George, Ethiopia Coffee are the early pacesetters

It's only two weeks into the new BetKing Ethiopia Premier League season but already, St George and Ethiopia Coffee hold the top positions

Both Addis Ababa City rivals have maximum points from their two games so far with St George top on goals difference.

St George beat Wolkite 4-1 City in week one and last weekend, they defeated Hambericho 2-1.

Ethiopia Coffee earned 1-0 wins over both their opponents this season, Sidama Coffee and Dire Dawa City.

The other unbeaten teams are Hawassa, Ethiopian Insurance, Adama City and Ethiopia Nigd Bank otherwise known as Commercial Bank of Ethiopia(CBE)

They all have 4 points each from a win and a draw.

There isn't too much surprise with the flow of the early results based on the Preseason feelers and the transfer activities.

Bahir Dar City and Ethiopian Insurance were the closest challengers to St George last season and will be expected to be in the conversation once again.

They both faced each other on opening weekend with Ethiopian Insurance on top but Bahir Dar have bounced back last weekend.

Mekelakeya and CBE or Ethiopia Nigd Bank have been among the biggest players in transfer activities so hopefully their new Stars blend in nicely.

Hadiya Hossana in 14th place could be a worry given the expectations, but Fasil Kenema with two draws, and Sidama Coffee.

Wolkite City who survived relegation on the last day of the season find themselves already in the 13th position.

However, Hambericho and Shashemene City who both got promoted this season find themselves in troubled waters.
