Fixtures for the South African clubs competing in the continental club competition have been fixed for the first leg of their second-round matches, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates heading to Lubumbashi next weekend.

Chiefs will take on AS Simba at the TP Mazembe Stadium in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, October 18 (kick off 3pm) in the African Confederation Cup, while Pirates take on St Eloi Lupopo at the same venue the next day in the Champions League, also with a 3pm kick-off time.

Simba are from Kolwezi, some 300km from Lubumbashi, but their home ground was considered unsuitable for international competition, but St Eloi Lupopo are based in Lubumbashi.

Pirates will host the return leg in Soweto on Saturday, October 25 at 3pm with the winner advancing to the lucrative group phase.

Chiefs’ return game at home against Simba, who are not to be confused with the more successful Tanzanian team of the same name, has yet to be fixed but will be either on Friday, October 24 or Sunday, October 26.

Mamelodi Sundowns, who had a bye in the first round of the Champions League, go to Nigeria for the first leg of their second round. They face Remo Stars in Abeokuta on Sunday, October 19, with the return match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria one week later.

Stellenbosch begin their Confederation Cup campaign away as well, travelling to Equatorial Guinea to meet 15 Agosto in the first leg of their second round tie on October 18 in Ebebeyin.

The return will likely take place at the Cape Town Stadium seven days later.
