Dream draw for MTN8 semifinals
Holders Orlando Pirates have been drawn against Mamelodi Sundowns while Sekhukhune Unitded will play Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semifinals later this month.
The pairings were drawn after the last of the quarterfinals ties on Sunday at Atteridgeville, where Mamelodi Sundowns were comfortable 4-0 winners over debutants Richards Bay.
Pirates and Sundowns contested the MTN8 final two years ago where the Bucanners won the trophy on post match penalties.
Pirates beat Polokwane City 2-0 in the first of the quarterfinal ties in Soweto on Saturday to stay on course for a record fourth successive triumph. Last season they were the first club to win the top eight competition three seasons in a row.

Veteran Bradley Grobler scored twice on his debut for Sekhukhune United, as they came from two goals down to beat TS Galaxy 3-2 in Polokwane on Saturday while on Sunday, last season’s’ MTN8 runners-up Stellenbosch needed extra time tio edge AmaZulu 3-2, also coming back after conceding the first goal.
Pirates were drawn first out of the hat for the semifinal and host the champions in the first leg on the weekend of August 16-17 with the return a week later
Stellenbosch are home to Sekhukhune United in the first leg of their tie with the return in Polokwane.
