What has been going on in LALIGA this past week? Here are 10 of the top stories, from pre-season tours to the latest transfers.

With the new LALIGA EA SPORTS season just a few weeks away, clubs are stepping up their preparations by playing pre-season friendlies and by making transfers. The main storylines are outlined below.

Marcus Rashford becomes an FC Barcelona player

FC Barcelona have further strengthened their attack by signing England international Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United. The 27-year-old scored 138 goals for the English club over his career, as well as 17 for his national team, so gives Hansi Flick another goalscoring option.

Atlético de Madrid keep up their busy summer

Atlético de Madrid have been very busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in six new players already. The latest to arrive are right-back Marc Pubill, who joins from UD Almería, and centre-back Dávid Hancko, who makes the move from Feyenoord.

Valentin Gómez strengthens Real Betis’ defence

Real Betis have been busy too and made an eye-catching signing this past week by bringing in highly rated Argentinian centre-back Valentin Gómez, who will enjoy his first taste of European football after departing Velez Sarsfield.

Pau López is back in Spanish football

Another player signed by Real Betis this past week is goalkeeper Pau López, who is returning to his former club after most recently playing for Toluca in Mexico. López played for Los Verdiblancos in the 2018/19 season, and hopes to compete for the starting job in Seville.

Tyrhys Dolan signs with RCD Espanyol

Another intriguing transfer which was completed in the past seven days was that of Tyrhys Dolan to RCD Espanyol. The English footballer joins the Catalan side from Blackburn Rovers. Able to play in multiple positions in attack, his versatility should be a big plus for the LALIGA EA SPORTS club.

Athletic Club win the race to sign Jesús Areso

Jesús Areso was a target for multiple clubs this transfer window, and it’s Athletic Club who have won the race to sign him from CA Osasuna. Having previously been in the Athletic Club academy, the 26-year-old should fit right in back in Bilbao.

Manu Sánchez is Levante UD’s latest reinforcement

Following their promotion to LALIGA EA SPORTS, Levante UD have been working on retooling their squad and on adding experience. The latest player they’ve signed is Manu Sánchez, who has plenty of experience having played for CA Osasuna, Deportivo Alavés, Atlético de Madrid and RC Celta.

Real Oviedo make a statement with Luka Ilic

Real Oviedo are another team preparing for life in the top tier, and they’ve signed Luka Ilic from Red Star Belgrade. It’s an impressive deal for the Asturian club, with the midfielder having represented his national team in the past.

Pre-season continues for Spanish clubs

With the start of the new LALIGA EA SPORTS season approaching, Spanish clubs have been stepping up their pre-season preparations. Several teams have travelled abroad to play friendly matches, such

as FC Barcelona visiting Japan, RCD Mallorca travelling to Austria and Athletic Club visiting the Netherlands.

Mariano impresses with Deportivo Alavés

Former Real Madrid striker Mariano is currently on trial at Deportivo Alavés, following a year out of the sport. He has been impressing in pre-season, and scored two goals in a 2-1 victory against CD Castellon.
