Cherry previously played in France for amateur side Nice as part of Scottish Rugby's performance pathway partnership for the 2017/2018 season, before joining his hometown club Edinburgh.
He has been capped by his country 16 times, making his Scotland debut in 2021 when he came off the bench as part of the Calcutta Cup-winning squad, before scoring a brace of tries on his first test start against Italy the month after.
Cherry was part of the squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
He played in this year's Six Nations where Scotland finished fourth in the tournament won by France.
Brittany-side Vannes are currently last in the Top 14 and have six games to secure top-flight survival.
