Niger claimed their first ever victory against Tanzania this week following a 1-0 win in their latest CAF Fifa World Cup qualifier at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City on Tuesday afternoon.

Both sides produced enterprising football during the first 10 minutes and created decent scoring opportunities in the process.

With the ball possession shared equally early on, fans were loud in voice as Tanzania and Niger attacked with intent.

Niger looked assured in possession midway through the first half but had nothing to show for their forward advancements.

Tanzania, on the other hand, often attempted to hit their opponents on the break.

With Tanzania and Niger unable to break the deadlock, the referee called time on the first 45 with the score at 0-0.

Niger remained the more progressive side after the break and made their presence felt in the final third.

Then, after a sustained period of possession, Niger took the lead in the 58th minute, courtesy of a strike by Daniel Sosah.

While being a goal to the good, Niger were reduced to 10 men in the 79th minute as Boureima Katakore received his second yellow of the match.

Tanzania continued to battle against the stubborn Niger defence and often saw their attacks broken down at the final hurdle.

In the end, Niger held on to record their first win against Tanzania in what will be a memorable afternoon in Zanzibar City.
