Kapp guides Delhi Capitals to seven-wicket win v UP Warriors
Proteas allrounder Marizanne Kapp delivered a nerveless finish to lead the Delhi Capitals Women to a seven-wicket victory with a ball to spare in their WPL match against the UP Warriorz Women at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Wednesday.
Replying to the Warriorz 166-7 the Capitals owed the bulk of their success to Australians Meg Lanning (69) and Annabel Sutherland (41*) as they reached 167-3 in 19.5 overs but a measured run-chase threatened to go badly wrong in the closing overs before Kapp struck four critical boundaries in her unbeaten 29 from 17 balls to clinch the win.
Congratulations to Delhi Capitals on a brilliant victory! 🎉

A fantastic chase led by Meg Lanning's fifty and Annabel Sutherland's all-round brilliance sealed a stylish win for DC.

Captain Lanning was in imperious form with a dozen boundaries in her 69 from 49 balls while allrounder Sutherland remained unbeaten on 41 from 35 balls in the company of Kapp when the match ended.
Earlier West Indian allrounder, Chinelle Henry, blasted a quickfire 33 not out from just 15 balls with a trio of fours and sixes to give the UP Warriorz Women a competitive total of 166-7 after being asked to bat first.
Thirty-year-old opener Kiran Navgire smashed a remarkable 51 from just 27 balls (6x4, 3x6) inside the Power Play to give the Warriorz a flying start before seamer Sutherland dismissed her and fellow opener Vrinda Dinesh (16) within the space of eight deliveries.
The Warriorz big-name middle order of Deepti Sharma (7) and Tahlia McGrath (1) were both stumped by English ‘keeper Sarah Bryce and at 82-4 the innings was at a crossroads before Shweta Sehrawat (37 from 33 balls) consolidated allowing Henry to add the fireworks at the end.
Sutherland (2-26) was the pick of the bowlers although Kapp’s 4-0-30-1 was no less impressive considering she had to withstand the early onslaught from Navgire.
Fellow new-ball bowler Shikha Pandey (3-0-43-0) fared less well.
The Capitals Women move into second place on the five-team log with two wins from three games, behind leaders RCB Women on net run-rate, while the Warriorz are bottom following a second loss in as many games.
