England's Laurie Canter prevailed in a three-way playoff to land his second European Tour title in the Bahrain Championship on Sunday.

Canter denied compatriot Daniel Brown and Pablo Larrazabal of Spain with a birdie at the first extra hole.

Larrazabal was on course for victory when grabbing the lead with a birdie at the 13th.

But a dropped shot at the last moved him back level with Canter and Brown, forcing the tense finale.

"It feels great," said Canter, whose previous EPGA win came at the European Open last year.

"I really had to hang in the first couple of rounds this week. I was scoring nicely, not great tee to green, just putting well.

He added: "Last night I had a chat with my coach Mike Walker and he gave me a couple of ideas to improve my iron play. I hit the ball great today and putted terribly. It's just kind of how it goes.

"I'm so chuffed to have stuck in there. It's unfortunate what happened to Pablo but I'm absolutely delighted to have stuck in and got another win."
