South Korea's Mun Do-yeob claimed his first win on the Asian Tour on Sunday on home soil at the Maekyung Open, denying Thailand's Jazz Janewattananond his first title in three years.

Mun, who started the day six shots behind the leaders, carded a sizzling final-round 63 at Namseoul Country Club to race up the leaderboard and clinch victory at 10-under par, three shots clear of his nearest rivals.

Mun had eight birdies, including six on the last eight holes, to turn his fortunes around in spectacular fashion after failing to make a single cut in his three previous competitions.

"I couldn't be happier to be on top of the leaderboard in a tournament I've always wanted to win," said the 33-year-old, who faced a nervous two-hour wait for the final group to finish.

"The last three holes at Namseoul Country Club are particularly tricky.

"I focused on playing steady and making par rather than being aggressive."

Mun's win dashed Jazz's hopes after the Thai went into the final day tied for the lead.

Jazz is a seven-time winner on the Asian Tour and was the Order of Merit champion in 2019, but he has not lifted a trophy since 2022.

He carded two birdies and three bogeys to finish in a tie for second with South Korean pair Lee Junghwan and Kim Baekyun.

"It was so hard out there today -- it was a grind-fest," said Jazz, who was bidding to become the first overseas player to win the tournament in 21 years.

"I tried to grind as much as I could, I didn't give up at all at any point but it was just hard."
