Northern Cape Heat appoints Mduduzi Mbatha as new Heat team head coach

A seasoned coach with deep roots in cricket, Mbatha brings a wealth of experience, player development expertise, and a proven track record to the Heat setup. His appointment signals a strategic step forward as the team looks to make a strong statement in the coming season.

Mbatha's cricketing journey began as a talented youth player, representing SA Schools cricket. He transitioned into coaching through the Northerns age-group structures, where he helped shape young talent at grassroots level.

He went on to lead the Titans Academy and later served as assistant coach for the Northerns semi-professional team, gaining valuable experience in the senior domestic path.

Continuing his development, Mbatha took charge of the Dolphins Academy and later became the Hollywoodbets Dolphins' assistant coach.

“It is an honour and privilege to be appointed head coach of the Northern Cape Heat team. I am grateful to Dolphins Cricket for the opportunities that have fuelled my growth, and I thank the interim coach for their leadership last season.

Mbatha has already begun engaging with management and players as pre-season plans take shape. His immediate focus will be on player evaluations, training structures, and laying the foundations for a successful campaign.
