TS Galaxy returned to winning ways in the Betway Premiership this weekend, following an efficient 2-0 victory over Cape Town City at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

On the back of two consecutive draws in the league, TS Galaxy made sure to get their name in the winning column once more as goals by Samukelo Kabini and Dzenan Zajmovic were enough for the Mpumalanga side to bag maximum points.

Following a bright start to the game, TS Galaxy saw the majority of the ball during the opening 10 minutes, with the likes of Kabini and Victor Letsoalo making their presence felt inside the opposition half.

The Rockets continued to be the more progressive side midway through the first half, while City appeared to be comfortable in their own quarters.

With neither side creating any notable scoring opportunities after 30 minutes, the pace of the game slowed down considerably in the 32+ degrees Celcius Mbombela heat.

While Kamogelo Sebelebele and Mlungisi Mbunjana threatened the City goal with shots from range, Galaxy took the lead following a corner situation in the 38th minute.

After latching onto the ball inside the 18-yard-area, Kabini’s left-footed shot bypassed Darren Keet in goal.

The Rockets doubled their advantage moments before the halftime whistle after Zajmovic joined Kabini on the scoreboard.

Following a swift move toward the City area, the Bosnian made no mistake with a successful left-footed effort.

In full control of the game, Galaxy continued to dominate the possession count all the way to the hour-mark.

City on the other hand, had nothing to show for their efforts while playing under the cosh.

Both Galaxy and City rang in the changes halfway through the second 45 while the travelling side took a slightly more attacking approach in their alterations.

However, the Rockets made life difficult for City and defended with much purpose.

Galaxy did enough to see out the game unscathed and secured an important 2-0 win on home soil.
