Saturday's action delivered an upset as six-time Nedbank Cup champions Mamelodi Sundowns fell 2-0 to TS Galaxy in KwaMhlanga, with first-half strikes from Siphamandla Ngwenya and Junior Zindoga sealing the hosts' win.

In the evening, 10-time champions Orlando Pirates were stunned by Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars, who claimed a 5-4 victory on penalties following a 0-0 draw in Soweto.

In Upington, Darren Keet's goalkeeper heroics during a penalty shootout saw Durban overcome Upington City, emerging as 2-0 winners on penalties after the second-tier outfit had contained the top-flight side in a game which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Angelo van Rooi emerged as the hero, scoring the only goal of the match to fire Golden Arrows to a 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC in Durban, with the visitors reduced to 10 men late on after Thabo Moloisane's red card.

The action started on Friday with Hendrick Ekstein's second-half goal earning AmaZulu FC a narrow 1-0 victory in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby match in Richards Bay.

A match between 2009 Nedbank Cup runners-up University of Pretoria and Sekhukhune headlined Sunday's action, and Babina Noko claimed a 1-0 victory, thanks to Vuyo Letlapa's goal in Tshwane.

The quarterfinal draw is set for Monday, with five Premiership sides among the eight teams left in the competition.
