Vodacom Bulls coach Jake White has got his wish - Springbok veteran Willie le Roux has renewed his contract with the Pretoria side.

Le Roux renewed his contract to stay with the Pretoria side until the end of the 2027 season, something that has delighted White and others as they plan to use his experience to guide a number of the younger players coming through the ranks.

It means that Le Roux will play on to hopefully get his 100th cap for the Springboks this year, and then will continue to play for the Bulls after his time at the Boks is done.

There was some talk of Le Roux heading overseas, but it seems he has enjoyed his time with the team and will be looking to fulfill the mentorship role in the coming two years.

“South Africa will always be my home, but my teammates at the Vodacom Bulls have been a big reason behind the decision to stay. Hopefully, I can continue to guide some of the passionate younger players that are coming through over the next two years,” Le Roux said in the team announcement.

Le Roux has played 29 times for the Bulls since joining after the 2023 Rugby World Cup and has enjoyed his time at Loftus Versfeld.

“This is an unreal stadium to play in, it’s always been one of my favourites, you can’t beat the vibe that the supporters bring every week. The club is special because of its fans and just what it means to put on its jersey every week we play,”

“Reaching the URC Grand Final in my first year with the club and a very special semifinal win at Loftus against a brilliant Leinster side, as well as being able to win the URC SA Shield, are all among my top highlights thus far. Now we look ahead to more of these special memories.”

White was overjoyed with getting Le Roux to extend with the team.

“It is great to be able to have him extend with us. This is what our rugby needs: experienced campaigners to share their IP with the next crop of players. Willie has proven to us all – in a short time – just how important he is to what we are trying to achieve, I am sure his extension will be welcomed news to everyone, including players, coaches and our loyal fans.”

Le Roux is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury but will return in a few weeks.
