Kaizer Chiefs defeated Chippa United 1-0 in the Betway Premiership and got their first clean sheet in the league at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday evening.

Amakhosi showed determination from the very beginning of the match and piled on the pressure with their attackers on the wing and down the middle.

Wandile Duba produced a cross that reached the back post and caused problems for Chippa, and Yusuf Maart got on the end of it. Unfortunately, his effort was saved by Stanley Nwabali.

After much probing, Chiefs finally grabbed the lead in the 45th minute through a moment of individual brilliance from youngster Mduduzi Shabalala who breezed past the defence and finished well.

The second half saw the hosts continue to dominate in terms of possession. The Chilli Boys had their own fair share of opportunities throughout the match but were not clinical enough and could not keep possession long enough to string up a convincing attacking move.

Towards the final whistle, Bienvenu Eva Nga came close to equalising for the visitors, but Glamour Boys keeper Bruce Bvuma held his ground and protected his goal, ensuring that they took home all three points.

The result sees Kaizer Chiefs move up to seventh position in the Betway Premiership standings, and also grab a much-needed clean sheet as they put up an impressive defensive display.
