St George continued their poor start to the new League season with a second successive loss this time to Mekele 70 Enderta.

The Horsemen lost to Fasil Kenema last week and while that could be considered a blip given their recent rivalry with Fasil.

The lost to Mekele 70 Enderta is looking every inch like proof that their inconsistent form last season and failure to challenge for the title has carried over to this season.

They had managed a goalless first half where they were played second fiddle for too long against the returnees from Tigray region.

However, Mekele came out smoking hot in the second half and were a goal up just four minutes after the break.

Yared Birhanu's 49th minute goal gave Mekele a 1-0 lead and would prove just enough to earn them all three points, and bragging rights.

Ethiopian Insurance and Ethio Electric played out a goalless draw in the second game of the day, a second consecutive goalless draw by the newly promoted Electric.
