The finals for the 2027 Champions Cup and second-tier Challenge Cup will be played at French football club Lyon's OL Stadium, European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) announced on Thursday.

The French city also hosted the games in 2016 and beat six other bids from across five cities to host the fixtures.

"Following so many expressions of interest from across the world and given the high standard of all bidders, the decision process was extensive and challenging," EPCR chief executive Dominic McKay said.

"We have no doubt that Lyon will host an extraordinary weekend of rugby."

This year's finals, held on the weekend of 23-24 May will be in Cardiff, Wales and next season's games take place in Bilbao, Spain.
