Following a comprehensive medical evaluation, ASA has determined that Walaza's hamstring injury, sustained during his race at the Diamond League Final in Zurich, Switzerland last month, will prevent him from participating in the Championships.
"The decision has been communicated to the athlete, his coach and his management. This decision was made in the best interest of the athlete and the integrity of the national team," ASA said in a statement.
"ASA and the athletics family wishes him a speedy recovery."
Walaza will be replaced in the men’s 100m event by Retshidisitswe Mlenga.
