The 2025 Durban Ultra Triathlon on the Sunday, 27 July is once again set to light up the Durban beachfront with electric action and fun for all who take on the various distances on offer.

This year's event will take place in July, which means pristine weather for swim, bike, run and the early entries reflect an appetite to tackle an exciting endurance event in the warmest place to be.

With so many different options for athletes of all abilities, the Durban Ultra remains one of the best avenues to get into the sport of triathlon.

"Durban sets a high standard for a fun-filled Ultra Triathlon race weekend for the entire family," Durban Ultra race director Damian Bradley said. "Boasting with a beautiful race course and magnificent weather, Durban creates the perfect backdrop for a fantastic event.

"The Durban Ultra boasts with three distances, namely Sprint (600m Swim / 20km Cycle / 5km Run) ; Standard (1.5km Swim / 40km Cycle / 10km Run) and Ultra (2km Swim / 80km Cycle / 18km Run). With the minimum age for the Sprint being 16 years, the event attracts athletes from across the board whether they are a novice, seasoned, or professional triathlete."

The Ultra Triathlon Series remains the only series that offers three different races on the same day. The Durban Ultra also offers athletes the opportunity to race in a relay, which encourages people to gather their best riders, runners and swimmers together.

"Athletes can also enter in relay teams for the Sprint and Ultra distance creating the space where teams can race against each other. From corporate teams, schools or family and friends, there is a race for everyone! The race course is spectator-friendly, creating an energetic environment where family, friends and triathlon clubs can support their athletes racing!"

With over a month and a half to go until the 2025 edition of the event. Bradley wants to stress that the Durban Ultra continues to be an important part of the fabric of the Durban sporting landscape.

"The Durban Ultra is more than just a race; it has a heart that beats for triathletes and is an opportunity where athletes can push their limits and set new personal-best times while having fun and enjoying the beauty Durban has to offer.

"We invite triathletes, corporate teams, school teams, families and friends to enter and be part of this exciting race weekend!

"Don’t miss out, enter the Durban Ultra to experience a race filled with triathlon passion," Bradley added.

Durban's winters are an attraction for people from the colder inland provinces and to be able to take part in a triathlon event on the Durban beachfront in winter is an appealing prospect for many.

"We know Durban is a winter hot-spot and this provides us with the perfect opportunity to attract those people that make the trip to the coast for some warmth during the colder months.

"Each year we look forward to welcoming back our existing Ultra-fans as well as new athletes who are entering the triathlon sphere.

"We are excited for what is going to be another exciting edition of the Durban Ultra,” Bradley mentioned.
