Rubin Hermann’s second century in three days, together with a ton from brother Jordan, helped South Africa A ease to a comfortable seven-wicket win over New Zealand A as they took an unassailable 2-0 lead in their three-match one-day series in Benoni on Monday.

Left-handed opener Rubin, who dazzled with a scintillating 158* off 93 balls in match one, scored a more circumspect 109 off 98 balls (13 fours, 3 sixes) this time around – an innings that went a long way to guiding the hosts to a relatively easy win at Willowmoore Park.

There was also a ton from brother Jordan, whose unbeaten innings of 101* off 105 balls (12 fours, 2 sixes), earned him the Player of the Match prize.

He also took three wickets that tilted that decision in his favour.

The siblings had batted together for a 154-run second-wicket partnership that proved key in a chase of 249 after Tshepo Moreki had claimed a highly impressive 4-19.

Jordan for his part grabbed 3-20.

In the end, the South Africans ran out easy winners to move 2-0 ahead, with the final match scheduled for Wednesday.

Having won the opening game by a narrow three wickets, this result was far more impressive thanks to the Hermanns and Moreki.

The latter ripped through the Kiwis’ top-order, removing Nick Kelly (13), Bevon Jacobs (0), to leave the tourists on 34-4 and then later added the scalps of Curtis Heaphy (35) and Ben Lister (3) to his name.

His haul saw the away side fall to 98 for six at one stage, before Zakary Foulkes (52 off 61 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) and Simon Keene (77 off 58 balls, 9 fours, 2 sixes) put on a key 120 for the seventh wicket to lead the recovery.

Jordan then removed them both to leave the New Zealanders 248 all out in the final over.

South Africa lost Rivaldo Moonsamy (11) early during their reply, but the Hermanns calmed all nerves with their outstanding stand.

They took their side to 190 for one, and even though Rubin fell, together with captain Marques Ackerman (4) not long after, Jordan and Sinethemba Qeshile (19*) eased their side home with seven overs to spare.
