Al Ahly cruise to victory as Sundowns slip up

The 2025/26 CAF Inter-Club group stage campaign resumed on Friday with two former Africans champions, Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, in Champions League action.
Al Ahly proved too strong for Young Africans, who succumbed to a 2-0 defeat in a Group B game which was played at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt.

Therefore, Al Ahly remain at the top of the Group B standings - three points clear of second-placed Young Africans with three games left for two sides.
At the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, Sundowns were frustrated by a resilient Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman in a Group C encounter which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The South African champions took the lead twice through goals from Arthur Sales and Teboho Mokoena's goals, but Abdelrazeg Yagoub Omer Taha's brace ensured that the game ended in a stalemate.
Despite the draw, Sundowns remained at the top of the Group C standings, but they are level on points with second-placed Al Hilal with three games left for the two teams.
