DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–2, 6–2, 7–6(7–4) to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title.

It was his second Wimbledon title and fourth major title overall, and he became the sixth (and youngest) man in the Open Era to complete the Channel Slam.

In the women’s final, Barbora Krejčíková defeated Jasmine Paolini, 6–2, 2–6, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title.

It was her first Wimbledon singles title and second major singles title overall.

MALE PLAYERS TO WATCH

The championships promise to deliver some of the finest tennis in the world.

It comes hot off the heels of the Roland Garros, which saw a record-breaking five hour and 29 minute final between the two best players in the world, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Women's world No 2 Coco Gauff also managed to see off No 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka to secure her second Grand Slam title. Meanwhile, French wildcard Lois Boisson knocked out two top-10 players to reach the semifinals.

There are plenty of contenders who will be looking for success at Wimbledon

They include home favourite Jack Draper and Novak Djokovic who are just a few players to keep an eye on.

FEMALE PLAYERS TO WATCH

In women’s singles, world no. 1 Aryna Sabalenka enters the competition as the favourite after winning both the Australian and US Open titles.

Known for her explosive baseline game and powerful serve, she’s a serious contender despite occasional inconsistency. A former Wimbledon semifinalist, Sabalenka’s aggressive style makes her a major threat on grass.

She will face a serious challenge from world No 2 Coco Gauff, who is fresh off her second grand slam title after defeating Sabalenka at Roland Garros to win the French.

Gauff is growing into her prime. Her power, movement, and confidence make her a major contender on grass.

Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, thrives on grass with her flat, powerful groundstrokes and one of the best serves in the women’s game.

Her calm, composed demeanor and clinical baseline play make her a formidable force at SW19. If fully fit, Rybakina is one of the top contenders to reclaim the title in 2025.

PRIZE MONEY

£53.5 million, a seven per cent increase on 2024 and double what they offered a decade ago, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).

The singles champions will receive £3 million each, an 11.1 per cent increase on the prize money Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova took home last year.

Singles players who exit the first round will receive £66 000, a 10 per cent increase on last year.
