While all around them stutter, Zesco United will be hoping to build on their recent momentum and increase their two point lead at the top of the MTN Super League when they take on Nchanga Rangers on the Saturday.

Back-to-back victories in recent weeks have seen Zesco pull clear at the top of the table but with just six points between them and sixth-placed Nkwazi FC, they can ill afford any slip-ups.

Rangers ended a run of three straight defeats last weekend with 1-1 draw at home to Mutondo Stars, while Zesco have lost just one of their previous 14 league games (W5 D8), but will rue too many draws.

Second placed Kabwe Warriors are at home to bottom side Indeni FC as they look to make up ground on Zesco, though their opponents picked up just their second win in 21 games last weekend.

Warriors have never lost to Indeni with their previous seven meetings resulting in two wins and five draws.

Defending champions Red Arrows are four points behind the leaders and have seen their championship challenge stutter in recent weeks after four draws in their last five games. They do, however, unbeaten in nine matches (W4 D5).

They go to Lumwana Radiants, who saw their excellent unbeaten run of seven matches (W5 D2) come to an end last weekend with defeat at Mufulira Wanderers. Arrows have not won any of their last three games against Radiants, with two draws and a defeat.

Back-to-back losses mean Nkana FC have dropped to six points behind Zesco and they will be desperate for a victory when they go to in Nkwazi on Saturday. The last two meetings between these teams have finished goalless.

Power Dynamos are also six points back as they host Zanaco, who have won their last two games to move out of the bottom four.

The last five clashes between these sides have all ended in draws with Dynamos’ previous win coming back in 2020.

In other matches on Saturday, FC Muza host Forest Rangers, while Green Eagles go to Napsa Stars. Atletico Lusaka will welcome Green Buffaloes.
