The conversion is off target again. But it doesn't matter as Mapimpi's last-gasp try is enough to see the Sharks snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
TRY, SHARKS, MAPIMPI. 17-18. The winger latches onto a long floated pass in stoppage time to score the game-winner after they showed wonderful patience on attack close to the line.
The Sharks drive to the line. The maul is sacked.
The Sharks win a scrum penalty exactly as they wanted. Masuku drills the touch finder and lands it close to the 5m line.
Edinburgh attack via the left wing and they cross the tryline, but another amazing defensive save sees the ball held up over the line. The Sharks go deep with the goal-line drop-out and then chase expertly to force a knock on. The Sharks have a scrum on halfway.
Mapimpi knocks the ball on and Edinburgh come at the Sharks defence again.
The Sharks are holding on for dear life now. Edinburgh are asking all the right questions.
A series of wobbly kicks on both sides end in an ultimately net gain for Edinburgh.
Edinburgh opt for the maul again, but Kolisi does excellent work to disrupted their momentum and win a scrum for his team. From the set-piece, the Sharks hoof it long and into touch.
The Sharks take the ball at a defensive lineout as the game enter its final 10 minutes.
The variation to and pace in this Edinburgh attack have the Sharks defence at sixes and sevens now. The men from Durban are on the back-foot and have been saved numerous times by their scramble defence.
Edinburgh go for a double kick tactic to unlock the Sharks defence, but Hooker does well to charge the ball down.
Just as the momentum swung back in the Sharks' favour, Mbatha's throw-in at the lineout flies over the top and into the all-too eager waiting hands of an Edinburgh player.
They've done it. The Sharks have managed to keep them out. The ball hops loose and the Sharks get the possession. Masuku drills a kick down field to put an exclamation mark on what feels like a mighty defensive win for the Sharks.
Now Esterhuizen stops the ball-carrier in his tracks. This is nail-biting stuff by both sides.
Edinburgh storm to the tryline, but Kolisi manages to hold the ball-carrier up off the ground with a brilliant piece of defensive work. But Edinburgh were playing under an advantage. Penalty.
The Sharks' ball-protection, or lack thereof, has let them down in this second half. Masuku gets isolated and Ritchie is straight over the ball to win a penalty for the hosts.
A worrying sight for the Sharks and Springboks alike, as Fassi hobbles off the field with an injury.
Dear oh dear. Hendrikse fluffs another regulation kick at goal. Those three squandered points would have gotten the Sharks within a point.
Edinburgh's discipline is slipping here. They concede yet another penalty.
The Sharks' driving maul disintegrates as Edinburgh repel them. A wild inside pass then doesn't go to hand and Edinburgh pounce. They spring on the counter attack, but poor execution sees the ball kicked directly into touch. Huge relief for the Sharks.
The Sharks have to score here.
Edinburgh also have Skinner back on the park. The Sharks will feed the lineout.
To the lineout they go, AGAIN. This time, they set a driving maul. The Sharks are four metres from the tryline when the ball squirts loose on the side of the breakdown. But there was an Edinburgh foot in there which kicked the ball out. Another penalty to the Sharks, who have just welcomed their two sin-binned players back.
Hendrikse sets a lineout and they launch another attack from the set-piece. An Edinburgh tackler fall on the wrong side of the ruck and the Sharks get a penalty.
The Sharks return the favour with an aerial bomb, Edinburgh knocks the ball on and one of their retreating players plays it from an offside position. Penalty to the Sharks.
This time the scrum holds firm and Edinburgh takes it out quickly. They go for an up and under, and Hendrikse beats everyone in the air to take it.
Edinburgh power forward at the scrum, putting the Sharks pack in reverse, but it is only a reset.
A slight forward pass by the Sharks gives possession right back to Edinburgh.
HORRIBLE MISS BY HENDRIKSE. The Sharks won a penalty straight from the restart, but the flyhalf dragged his penalty attempt wide off the uptight.
The Sharks are down to 13 men with both Lukhanyo Am and Eben Etzebeth getting their marching orders. Edinburgh are down to 14 as lock Sam Skinner was also sent to the naughty chair.

The Edinburgh players descended on Etzebeth like a pack of Lions.
YELLOW CARD, SHARKS, AM. We've now had two full-scale brawls between the two sets of players. The Sharks are not happy with the decision to sent Am off.
A horrible mix-up at the back for the Sharks sees Edinburgh pounce on the loose ball and almost score. But they somehow get back to stop the ball-carrier centimetres from the tryline. But they did so illegally. Am gets a yellow card.
It's all happening now. Edinburgh are red hot on attack, but so far the Sharks defence is holding on.
It is getting feisty between the two sides now. Fassi is under pressure inside the 22, but he offloads to Etzebeth, who carries the ball over the advantage line to get the Sharks out of a tight spot.

TRY, SHARKS, FASSI. 10-11. The visitors strike first in the second half as Am breaks the line with a sizzling run before freeing up the fullback.
Price steps in to clear the ball away for Edinburgh, but he gets virtually no distance on the kick. Sharks ball.

HALF-TIME: Edinburgh 10-6 Sharks. An intriguing half of action grinds to a halt. An exciting second stanza awaits.
The Sharks will feed the scrum, but it is the visitors who surprising get a free kick at the set-piece on the stroke of half-time. Edinburgh take a quick tap. They want to score again before the break.
Am rolls a deft little kick along the ground for Mapimpi to chase, but it takes a wicked bounce and rolls into touch.
PENALTY, SHARKS, HENDRIKSE. 10-6.
Penalty to the Sharks as a couple of Edinburgh's forwards are penalised for illegal play on the ground.
Edinburgh attack via the left wing again, but Fassi is well-positioned to take the grubber kick and hoofs a rocket kick down the centre of the field.

Hendrikse does find touch, but not far from where he kicked it from.
That's more like it from the Sharks pack. After a dominant hit, keep the ball at the back of the scrum and shove the Edinburgh forwards backward and they get the desired result: a penalty.
Edinburgh look to power forward, but there's a little knock-on.
And now the Sharks are pinged for taking a man out in the air. Edinburgh kick for touch again.
Fassi is caught in two minds, as he looks to run with the ball but then suddenly kicks forward. But it is directly into touch.
The Sharks are being outmuscled and out-thought here.
The conversion attempt is no good again.
TRY, EDINBURGH, RITCHIE. 10-3. A try of the highest quality by Edinburgh. Good handling and perfect executing see them score in the corner from a sweeping move on the right flank.
Thompson finds touch and the lineout jumpers leap high to retain possession. The Sharks are in defensive mode again.
And back we go for another Edinburgh penalty after the referee called an advantage.
The Sharks are getting a bigger stake of the possession now. But as we say that, Edinburgh's forwards are in over the ball and win a penalty.
Edinburgh come under huge pressure at the scrum, but they get the ball out in the nick of time and Ali Price gets a kick away.
Sharks captain Eben Etzebeth is not happy with some of the Edinburgh players' conduct and goes to have a quiet word with the referee about it.
Here come the Sharks. They are inside the 22, but Edinburgh manage to see off the attack, forcing Tshituka to lose possession.
Tuipulotu is caught in possession by Hendrikse and Esterhuizen is on hand to snaffle the ball away from him on the ground. He holds onto the ball and concedes a penalty. Hendrikse sets a lineout for the Sharks.
Edinburgh send the ball back with a kick of their own and then Fassi kicks it directly into touch. That is a big territorial win for the men in blue.
The Sharks secure the ball at the lineout and Hendrikse goes the aerial route.
But their scoring opportunity goes begging with a poorly executed kick-pass which evades its intended target and sails into touch.
Edinburgh turn down the three points on offer and take a quick take. The hosts want to play at pace. They are here to play.
The Sharks are under immense pressure defensively and they transgress again, resulting in a penalty for Edinburgh.
Oh this is an incredible passage of play by Edinburgh. The home side launched a scathing attack down the left and they looked for all money to be in for a second try, but Lukhanyo Am tracked back to make a try-saving tackle for the Sharks.
Big mistake by Hendrikse, whose restart does not travel the prerequisite 10 metres.
The conversion is skewed. But Edinburgh have still hit the front.
TRY, EDINBURGH, LANG. 5-3. The centre goes flying through to the air to score a magnificent touchdown. That was excellent phase-play by the hosts.
So far, this is an intriguing battle of wills. Edinburgh are now on the charge with a series of phases about 10m from the tryline.
The Sharks front row secures a scrum penalty, but Hendrikse doesn't find touch. Edinburgh counter and win a penalty of their own, but their kicker also doesn't find touch. The Sharks go on to lose the ball forward and now the home team has an attacking scrum just outside the 22.

From the drop-out, Edinburgh chase superbly to pressure the Sharks. The ball is hastily hacked into touch, but it doesn't travel far, thus giving the hosts an attacking lineout.
Hendrikse lines up another long-range effort at goal, but this time he is well off target. He had enough distance on the kick, but the direction was wayward.
Edinburgh breaks through the Sharks defence, but the visitors recover and then Siya Kolisi makes a brilliant read to win a penalty.

The first penalty goes the way of the Sharks as Esterhuizen makes sure he is the first man over the ball at the breakdown after a ping pong aerial battle.
