While the race to promotion to the PSL continues, Cape Town Spurs and Leruma United will have little choice but to kick into survival mode heading into matchday 24 of the Motsepe Foundation Championship this weekend.

As it stands, Leruma United occupy last position on the table after accumulating just 20 points after 23 matches played so far.

The Urban Warriors hold a three-point gap over Leruma United in 15th place, while both teams have won just five matches in the league this season.

Spurs and Leruma United are scheduled to do battle at the Athlone Stadium on Friday evening, while 14th placed Venda Football Academy will take on Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. Venda are level on points with Spurs (23), with their fixture set to play an important role in the quest for survival this season.

Elsewhere, log leaders Durban City will face the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Following their 1-0 win against Upington City last time out, Durban City increased their lead at the top of the pile to eight points after Kruger United, JDR Stars and Casric Stars recorded draws in their latest Motsepe Foundation Championship assignments.
