Sekhukhune United claimed a 2-1 win over Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match played at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win saw Babina Noko progress to the quarterfinals, where they will face Mamelodi Sundowns on 8 March.

Before taking on Masandawana, coach Lehlohonolo Seema's side will take on Richards Bay on 5 March in the Betway Premiership.

The Stallions, on the other hand, bowed out of the South African Cup and they will now turn their attention to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, where they are scheduled to lock horns with Hungry Lions on 11 March.

Linda Mntambo became a threat to the Stallions' defence from the first minute and the midfielder-cum-forward netted in the 21st minute to hand Sekhukhune a 1-0 lead, with Shaune Mogaila providing the assist.

The Babina Noko captain grabbed his brace in the 34th minute after a quick move by the away side.

This time, Vuyo Letlapa played a lovely pass for Mntambo who fired past goalkeeper Mfanufikile Madondo to make it 2-0 to Sekhukhune.

However, the Stallions were gifted a goal in the 43rd minute as goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua dropped the ball and Menzi Chili poked it home from close range.

Sekhukhune were leading 2-1 at halftime.

Kazapua was replaced by Badra Ali Sangare at the start of the second half and the Ivorian keeper became a busy man.

Bhekani Mthinyane hit the woodwork in the 83rd minute before Sangare produced late saves - denying Sihle Mdluli and Bulelani Sigomoshe to ensure that Sekhukhune secured a 2-1 win.
