Man United sign Danish defender Dorgu from Lecce

Manchester United have signed 20-year-old Danish left back Patrick Dorgu from Italian Serie A side Lecce on a contract until 2030, the Premier League club said on Sunday.

British media reported the deal was worth 30 million euros ($31.1 million), with a further five million in performance-related add-ons.

Dorgu moved to Lecce from Danish side Nordsjaelland in 2022 and made 57 appearances for the Italian team.

"I cannot wait to work with (United manager) Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting," Dorgu said in a statement.

"There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfill my potential and complete my huge ambitions."

Capped four times for his country, Dorgu became United's second signing since Amorim replaced Dutchman Erik ten Hag in November.

United are languishing 12th in the Premier League table with only two victories in their last five league matches.

SPURS HIJACK WOLVES TO SIGN DANSO

Tottenham added much-needed defensive cover with the signing of centre-back Kevin Danso on loan with an obligation to buy from Lens on Sunday.

The Austrian international had been set to join Wolves before Spurs swooped to hijack that move late on Saturday, according to reports.

Danso, who has previously had spells in England with MK Dons and Southampton, will cost a reported 25 million euros (£21 million, $26 million) when the transfer is made permanent at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old's arrival is a welcome boost for under-fire Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who has been without first-choice centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero for the majority of the last three months.

Romanian international centre-back Radu Dragusin also suffered a knee injury in Thursday's 3-0 Europa League win over Elfsborg that could keep him sidelined for several weeks.

Spurs have taken just one point from their last seven Premier League games to slip to within seven points of the relegation zone.

However, they are still alive in three cup competitions.

Postecoglou's men have progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League, travel to Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round and take a 1-0 lead into Thursday's League Cup semifinal, second leg at Liverpool.

AJAX LOAN CHUBA AKPOM TO LILLE

English forward Chuba Akpom has gone on loan from Ajax to injury-hit Lille with an option to buy, the French Ligue 1 club announced Sunday.

"The versatile English striker signed up today as part of a loan (with option to buy) until the end of the 24-25 season," the northern French outfit said.

Akpom, 29, comes in as backup for Canadian striker Jonathan David, who has scored 20 goals and set up another eight in all competitions this season.

Described as a "technical, hard-working, powerful and an impactful striker (1m83)" by the club, the Londoner started his career at Arsenal without making his mark on the Gunners, who loaned him to several English clubs including Hull City and Brighton.

He also played for PAOK Salonika and Middlesbrough.

His arrival comes as Lille – fourth in Ligue 1 – have been hit by injuries including midfielder Edon Zhegrova and forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, although coach Bruno Genesio had been targeting more of a winger profile.

"The worst thing is to buy for the sake of buying," Genesio had said. "It really has to be a player who fits into the principles of the game, and who is in the spirit of this group."
